Why wait?
Americans, today, live in a rapidly pulsating speed driven society where food is fast, communication is constant and answers to even the most arduous questions are rarely more than a click away. Commonly juxtaposed throughout the millennium, the words speed and haste go hand-n-hand; however, they do have their limitations. When it comes to issues of ‘love,’ neither speed, nor haste has authority to take precedence.
Why wait?
Love, even in its physical form, is not to be hurried. According to the Bible, there’s a time and a place for everything and there’s even a time for love. As God’s children, we are compelled to wait for love and even cautioned not to “awaken it”… until the time is right (Song of Songs 3:5).
Why wait?
We know that from the very beginning, God instituted the union of marriage. He set it apart as the arena-the only arena for physical love. As a loving Father, God has blessed us with so many pleasures and comforts in life that we hardly have time to enjoy them all. As with Adam and Eve, we’ve been placed in a beautiful garden that’s been entrusted into our care. We can feast off the land and, at times, enjoy the sweetness of milk and honey, but even then, we must recall that there’s still one rule in place. We cannot allow ourselves to become complacent with the “status quo” of our society. Our one rule is still is place and, as Solomon put it, we are not to “awaken love until its time.”
Why wait?
It’s simple. The benefits of waiting, by far, exceed the costs. Those who wait on love maintain an open pathway to God. Rather than looking to another, they look to Him as their “keeper” and the source for fulfillment in all their joy. They value the sanctity of marriage and vow to keep themselves (yes, even in a hasty and rapidly pulsating society) pure and wholesome before God.
Why wait?
Just remember where love stands at the core. No matter what… love in its purest form always reverts back to God. Those who are willing to wait on love are confessing their willingness to wait on God.
