I met Shelia when she started advertising with The Good Life Christian paper in 2005 and I am proud to call her my friend. I instantly felt a connection with her and I would stop by when I was in the area to converse, have a snack, and relax in her salon feeling I was among girlfriends. When I was diagnosed with breast cancer in June 2006 I knew I had to go straight to Shelia’s where I immediately felt the love and support from her and her girls!
Shelia Steele has specialized in wigs since 1973. This wonderful, compassionate lady volunteered for 12 yr. in hospitals to help people and make them feel better. She and her husband moved to Wilmington in 1990 and opened Shelia’s Wigs & Skin Care Salon. Sheila believes God gave her this special talent because of her love and compassion for people. Shelia says,” When God gives you a talent or a task, He also give you a love for it!” She makes everyone feel welcome in her salon and is able to provide privacy for those who need it while being fitted for a wig. Shelia knows that losing ones hair is the most difficult thing for them to go through; sometimes more difficult that the treatment itself! She truly wants those who are losing their hair for various reasons to look like they used to look and feel pretty and good about themselves.
She carries a huge selection of wigs and will cut and style those purchased from her to make them perfect for each of her customers. Don’t think wigs are just for women- she can help men who are losing their hair,too! Shelia will help you take care of your wig properly, too!
She has monofillament wigs, synthetic, and human hair wigs and the latest ones called “lace fronts”. She has 2 sizes of bangs, hairpieces and also fun wigs of different colors! She carries just the best quality wigs and often when I am visiting her salon, I can’t tell whether someone is wearing one of her wigs or if it’s their own hair! Shelia is a master at styling each wig to each face! Movie stars who wear the brand of wigs she carries are: Angelina Jolie, Kate Hudson, Sara Jessica Parker, Gwyneth Paltrow and Katie Perry.
Shelia also carries a top of the line make-up called, “Motives” by Loren Ridinger. With this product she can custom blend make-up just for you!
Shelia ‘s salon participates in the “Look Good,,, Feel better” program where companies donate top quality make-up to anyone going through cancer. These monthly sessions are held on the 2nd Tues. of every month and besides being fun to go to, you really do receive some wonderful products and direction for applying the products.
