The Faithfully Fit ladies who work out at the First Baptist Activity Center on Monday and Thursday evenings are so talented. They can work out their bodies and build a house, all at the same time. How do they do it? They are multi-taskers.
Actually, the dollar donations shared at the summer exercise classes are being collected to buy materials for a home that will be built in Guatemala. A team of missionary volunteers from First Baptist Church will be making their annual two trips to Guatemala to continue the house-building efforts they’ve participated in for the past few years. What is amazing is that the cost of materials for one house is only about $400.
“There are very few of us Faithfully Fit ladies who have the time or the talent to go to Guatemala and actually participate in the hammering and building. We do, however, have access to some dollars that will help provide the materials so that others can go and build. It’s a great example of the body of Christ working together. We each have an important part to play to make this home a reality, and we all work together to make it happen. We are all vital in the process,” says Joy Wade, leader of Faithfully Fit and a member of First Baptist.
The team of builders will be in Guatemala at the end of July and again in October, and they hope to build a good number of homes while there. The Faithfully Fit ladies will be collecting their dollars to support these 2 trips, and they are hoping to see a photograph of the “Faithfully Fit home” when the team returns. “I’ve always dreamed of having a house in another country. This is one way to make that dream a reality!” says Wade. Some of the group traveling to Guatemala in October will also be serving as volunteer medical missionaries.
